The Greater Rochester Jazz Orchestra utilizes the talents of many local musicians to foster the preservation, presentation, and appreciation of the jazz medium in the spirit of the Count Basie Orchestra, which was, and still is, one of the great performance bands of all time. From the first organizational rehearsal to the present time, the nineteen member orchestra has been dedicated to the promotion and appreciation of the institution known as jazz in the Basie tradition.
